Biggest ever Dorking Gala Night 2017 event is coming

The annual Dorking Gala Night is coming on 7th December and according to its organisers, it is expected to be the biggest ever this time. The popular event starts at 6pm, on Thursday and would be attracting some 5,000 people. The event will see the return of reindeer to Dorking, on their traditional visit and the snow-machine will bring back the winter wonderland like last year. There will be at the South Street Gardens, the Father Christmas grotto, plus fairground rides in St Martin’s Walk, free face-painting, the popular fire performer and free parking. Find the cast the panto Sleeping Beauty here with music and entertainment for all. The Rampant Roosters morris dancers, the Loud and Proud choir at the Priory Cofe School and the Coldharbour Village band. The Nativity scene will be hosted at St Martin’s Church.

This free event is run by Mole Valley District Council, the Dorking Town Partnership and Dorking’s Chamber of Commerce jointly. Free parking on 7th December is being offered across Mole Valley. Caroline Salmon, president of the chamber, said the reindeer for the community event has been sponsored by Scott’s of Dorking jewellers, after some funding concerns. She hoped the weather will hold off and looked forward to another festive period in Dorking. Execute member for economic development, Councillor Simon Edge said this year the Gala Night event is set to be the biggest ever in Dorking.
