The Belfast Culture Night 2017 is set to be the biggest yet, with over 300 events on the list, happening on 22nd September, across Belfast City Centre. The annual spectacle, running from 1pm to 10pm, expected to attract more than 100,000 people, not only has got something for families but promises something for everybody. This event is on its 9th year as a free event and the theme for this year is – ‘cultural biodiversity’.
With events of Pro Wrestling Live, Drag Queen Storytime, Outdoor Twister, Roller Derby and much more, the Culture Night is not only hosting more free events, but would be expanding and crossing its traditional “boundaries” to reach as far as Belfast Harbour, Banks Sqaure, Belfast City Hall and the iconic Big Fish. It starts wit Flow Yoga Studios at City Hall. There’s also on Fountain Street, the Mob and Street Party, later the Street Countdown, Outdoor Twister, Campervan of Dreams, American Football, Science Magic, a sing-along with The Belfast Choir and many more.
Kerry Rooney of Culture Night said the event will bring the entire city to life and is set to exceed all expectations this year. Nuala McAllister, Lord Mayor of Belfast, pointed out to the positive impact Culture Night has on the city centre and the vast potential of the city, so as to be regarded truly a capital of culture. He said that it is a wonderful visitor destination, with arts and culture accessible and visible at the free events to many who may not previously have seen them.
