BBC’s Get Creative event at Frome features free activities

As part of Get Creative events, being organised by BBC nationwide, the programme will see at Frome, the Black Swan Arts taking part alongside ‘The Future Can’t Wait’ show. The event on 8th April (Saturday) runs from 2pm to 4pm, hosting exciting exhibitions across 4 disciplines- fine art, ceramics, visual communication, fashion & textiles, presented by twenty MA post-graduate students.

Drop-in taster workshops will be offered by 5 artisans for adults and children. Lila Streether in Studio 1, will demonstrate painting fruit and flowers. Visitors can try a hand too. Studio 2 will have a free interactive jewellery making demo by Linda and Yasemin. An illustration technique for ink drawings will be demonstrated by Jack Perkins. At the ‘Porcelain bead painting taster workshops’, Syzi Waterworth will be demonstrating and participants can try a hand too.

The Black Swan Arts exhibition – ‘The Future Can’t Wait’, that runs till 15th April, is part of the ‘Get Creative’ events and from 2pm the Long Gallery will have free drop-in workshops. The students of MA Curatorial Practice will showcase Bath Spa University’s emerging artists. MA artists will introduce art from different disciplines to children.

Children’s creations during the exhibition will be exhibited online. The last week of March will see local school kids involved in workshops. There will be free activities throughout the exhibition, stimulating children’s creativity.
