The BBC Music Day 2016 is returning this year on 3rd June, Friday. BBC Music Day has announced the line-up of events for the UK-wide celebration which will have more than 25 events taking place across the BBC English Regions.
Ambassadors for BBC Music Day include Travis and Duran Duran, who will perform live. Duran Duran will be accompanied by Laura Mvula to headline at the Eden Project for the BBC Music Day finale. The concert will be broadcast live on BBC Radio 2, as part of Sara Cox’s show.
The Barrowland venue of BBC Music Day in Glasgow will host a live performance night of Travis collaborating with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra. BBC Radio Scotland will broadcast it live and BBC iPlayer will steam it live. One thousand free tickets will be offered to fans to attend the event.
Take the Bridge is a series of music collaborations to be held on more than 40 bridges across the UK, from the large to smaller and quirkier bridges. BBC Local Radio Stations will be broadcasting the music live throughout the day from the bridges. BBC Wales and BBC Bristol will be joining hands to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first Seven Bridge.
Amy Wadge, Grammy Award winner, has composed a song to be performed by BBC National Orchestra of Wales and Chorus. For Music Day on BBC Radio Wales, opera star Wynn Evans will lead with themed content throughout the day. For more information and list of events, visit the site- bbc.co.uk/musicday.
