Argos’ workshops to offer 10,000 tablets and broadband free

October 18th, 2014 by Sandy

Argos, the British retailer, has launched a campaign in-store to help 10,000 unconnected Brits go online for the first time. Argos is offering to help 9.5 million Brits go online with free tablets plus broadband, through its workshops. They are in partnership with Go ON UK, the digital skills charity, to provide practical skills and access to broadband to those who are not been online so far. The workshops will run from the 25th October(2014) through to mid-January (2015) in 120 Argos stores across the nation.

Trained staff will help all attendees (10,000 only) to learn the basics of how to use a tablet and how to access the internet. They’ll be offered a free tablet and a TalkTalk voucher redeemable for a year’s worth of broadband. The chief executive of Home Retail Group, the parent company of Argos, said that the digital revolution continues to pace on, but millions remain sidelined. John Walden explained that the Argos Internet Workshops developed would help to overcome barriers of affordability and access and improve understanding confidence and knowledge of digital technology to people.
