Families can enjoy a spectacular night of fireworks and music this weekend, on Saturday, 5th November, at Seaton Carew, Hartlepool. Organised by the Hartlepool Borough Council, the free annual event, Hartlepool Fireworks and Music Spectacular, will be held near the bus station and clock tower.
The event is coinciding this year on Guy Fawkes Night itself, coming with a ‘sci-fi’ theme this year. It will start at 4pm and a funfair for children will be open near the paddling pool. There will be hours of entertainment, with music from the X Files, War of the Worlds and Star Wars. Sponsors for the evening are Niramax Total Waste Solutions. Entertainment by music charity Red Dreams will begin from 5pm, with Paul ‘Gofy’ Gough, the BBC Tees presenter, compering for the evening.
The fireworks display will be countdown by Councillor Rob Cook, Ceremonial Mayor of Harpool, to blast off at 6:30pm. The Councillor who chairs the council’s Regeneration Services Committee, Rob Cook, feels this free event is one of the highlights of the Harlepool calendar. As it is not safe for visitors to set off their own fireworks on the beach, it will be closed to traffic while the event is on progress on Saturday.
