With The Internet being as open to children as adults, could they be prey to cyber harassment, grooming or something even worse? A Free seminar is being hosted to identify dangers online.
300 million people who constitute approximately 60 percent of the UK population are Facebook account holders, while 15.5 million have Twitter accounts. In addition 40 percent of the children in the UK can avail access to the Internet from the confines of their own rooms and with the entry of smartphones the Web can be accessed by children far more than earlier.
However does anyone really know who is looking at profiles and whether the online friends that people make are people in actual fact who they say they are? Are the children in danger of being cyber bullied?
Well, Acceleris in association with youth officer Paul Stephenson of the Child Exploitation and online Protection Centre of the North Yorkshire Police would be hosting a free seminar for the whole of the county’s housing professionals in order that they can point out unseen online risks.
The free seminar would emphasise the dangers the younger generation are liable to face while they have access to the World Wide Web and will also talk about how people can utilise the social networking sites by making the most of the available utilities in a safe and regulated manner.
The free seminar would be held on 3rd May of the current year at Crown Hotel, Crown Place, Harrogate, North Yorkshire, HG1 2RZ. The free one hour discussion would commence at 8.45am.
