Arbitration ServicesFree arbitration facilities are being offered by Aberdeenshire Council and an independent charity organization to residents to help solve their differences amicably.

The council of Aberdeenshire and a charity organization has joined hands to provide free mediation services to locals in the community to assist them to resolve their differences without any trouble.

Local residents of Aberdeenshire could be assisted in solving their differences with their neighbours and others by the Aberdeenshire Community Mediation Service. The organization helps resolve cases that may be related to a wide range of problems that would also consist of noise pollution, pets, parking disputes, breaking up of property and fences.

Noise pollution is one of the main issues that make people complain about their neighbours and come up for arbitration in Aberdeenshire. The other issues would be anti-social behaviour, and land disputes. Managed by the Community Justice Charity, Sacro and financed by the Housing Service and the Aberdeenshire Community Safety partnership, of the Council of Aberdeenshire, this mediation service was set up in the year 2004.

The success rate in the year spanning 2011 and 2012has increased by 88 percent the service has successfully settled many cases that had requested for arbitration and ended in acquiescence.

Any resident who has the need for mediation can call the organization on 01224 560570 or send a letter to the Aberdeenshire Community Mediation Service at 110 Crown Street, Aberdeen, AB11 6HJ. In case they require further details they could also log on to www.sacro.org.uk.

Councillor Karen Clarke, the Chairwoman of Social Work and Housing Committee of Aberdeenshire Council stated that arbitration was a helpful means by which neighbours or even other groups could have discussions and get their issues resolved amicably. This meant that they would not have to go in for more serious steps. The service has had excellent success rates and she also suggested that she would urge anyone who had an issue and required help to solve it should contact the mediation service for free counsel and help.
