Free leisure cycle event ‘Pedal to the Ports’

September 16th, 2014 by Sandy

To encourage the public to get to the wide outdoors, Coleraine Borough Council will be hosting the free leisure cycle event ‘Pedal to the Ports’, on 21 September, a Sunday. The event is free of charge, organised by Mark Strong, the Countryside and Marine Officer and opens to participants the fantastic cycling path network between Portrush and Portstewart. This is part of the Northern Ireland’s ‘Get Outdoors Weekend’, which hosts more than 60 events of free outdoor activity. Each event will be guided by an outdoor expert.

The leisure cycle event is a great family activity and the 6 mile cycle event will be from 3pm to 5pm. Portstewart cyclists will meet at Harbour Hill car park to follow a greatly traffic-free cycle path up to West Bay, Portrush and return the same way. For a tougher challenge, participants can choose to meet at 2.30pm at Coleraine Marina car park. They can cycle around 4 miles to Harbour Hill to join the cyclists to Portrush and return to Coleraine via Portstewart. Although a free event, pre-booking is needed. Book at the website- GetOutdoorsWeekend.com. Get Outdoors Weekend events are being hosted by various organisations including parks, clubs and local councils. It is coordinated by Outdoor Recreation NI, with other financial partners.
