The Funky Town Fest is a free family day time event being held on 27th September, Saturday, at the Guildhall Square, from 10am to 5pm. Presented by The Portsmouth Cultural Trust, the Funky Town Festival is where carnival arts and street theatre come alive in earthy and mythical themes.
There will be performances from a Samba band, dancers, a dragon, jugglers, a musical and poetry stage. Find workshops in flag-making, circus skills, balloon making and a carnival parade too. Featured during the event will be a smoke-breathing mobile dragon, 30 feet long, a dance routine by Distraction Dance troupe, and the world acclaimed African-Gandini-Jugglers.
Family activities at the free event include The Bonkers-Balloon-Show and Manic Stage Productions with Anna from ‘Frozen’. Find also Top Banana circus skills workshop and Sploge Designs. Featured will be Busking Music Showdown, the Portsmouth Top Pigeon Trophy and the New Theatre Royal. The Hole Job will be presented by the Bureau of Silly Ideas. Family area of Southsea Greenhouse will have gardening and kids activities. Southsea’s Gift Market will have lots of drinks and street food.
