The Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) will open its mounted training establishment’s doors to the public to showcase its four-legged members’ skills as a specialist unit supporting daily policing duties.
The free entry show will be held on 19th July, Saturday, at Imber Court. The first display starts at 12.30pm. Police with the mounted branch will be shown, with officers displaying exciting horse-riding skills and jumps. A police helicopter pursuit of “suspects” will also be demonstrated. The new puppy recruits will also be shown, along with refreshments and children’s activities throughout the open day.
Mark Bird, Chief Superintendent from the pan-London taskforce of MPS, remarked that the open day is enjoyable for all ages, a great opportunity to see varied police units, with officers on hand to answer questions of the public, be it on the police helicopter, the terrorist support group, the mounted branch, the sniffer dogs or even on the marine police unit.
