Liverpool will be hosting again the annual Brazilica festival for 9 days, taking place from 11th to 18th of July, to culminate in the main carnival day on 19th July, Saturday. The event will start-off with the Brazilian 2014 Launch Party, to be held at 24 Kitchen Street, Baltic Quarter. It’s a dance floor extravaganza. The International Slavery Museum will hold a free workshop on Headress Making, on the 12th and 13th of July, with preparations for the carnival.
A Brazilian film programme will show a triple-bill of films. The first film on the bill, Estomago, will be shown on 14th July. City of God 10 (an Oscar Nominee) will be shown on 16th July at FACT. Tropicana will be shown on 18th July (Friday), at The Brink. All are finest of Brazilian films and are free to watch. The Carnival Queen Competition, a yearly event, will be hosted at Alma De Cuba on 18th July (Friday), picking the winner from the best samba dancers of UK.
A huge samba dance parade through the city will mark the main carnival day on 19th July, Saturday, now on for the 4th year running. Brazilian artists and bands will perform throughout the day & evening, with outdoor shacks offering the best of Brazilian food. There will be a series of events throughout the day and night across the city. The winner of the Brazilian Futsal will be named by the Brazilian Street Soccer Festival. The Brazilian themed Flower Show will be held at Southport Flower-Show, which is in Williamson Square, at the Southport Flower-Show Stand.
