Free course to help motorists understand technology in modern cars

July 11th, 2014 by Sandy

A free course for motorists will be held on 17th July, Thursday, at 7.30pm, by the safety group North Sraffs Advanced Motorists, at Sandyford fire-station, situated off Mitchell Way, Stoke-on-Trent. The road safety group will be showing to those participating in the session, what the array of warning lights, gauges and dials mean on our modern car cockpits. The ‘technology in the car’ session will help drivers of sophisticated vehicles to demystify the gadgets and systems inside them today.

Some modern cars have anti-pollution display systems, computer monitored engine systems and more navigation packages built in. These modern cars have many complex electronic safety systems too. Starting from air-bags, to chassis control systems, to control of skidding cars. Other features may be warnings for straying out of lane, blind spot warnings, and many others. Phil Oakes of the safety group says the session will begin with usual features found and checked commonly, and goes on to what to expect when things start going wrong and when warning lights come on. The session will further cover advanced features and discuss features likely in future cars, he added. For more details on the presentation call Phil Oakes on 07906 137517.
