As part of the National Festival of Archaeology, the Lincolnshire Wolds Festival of Archaeology is all set to begin from 12th July, Saturday, starting off at 11am, and running up to 27th July, Sunday. The free events, as part of ‘Down Your Wolds’ community heritage project, will take place in Lincolnshire Wolds, with the Festival launch event at the National Trust property of Gunby Hall and Garden.
Free entry will be allowed to visitors on a first come, first served basis, to the garden and for tours of the house. Archaeology walks to explore the deserted medieval village site at Gunby will be between 12noon and 2pm. The festival is an opportunity to people to discover medieval villages, explore the Nettleton iron mines, learn to research a church and much more. The Lincolnshire Wolds Heritage and Archaeology exhibition will be held throughout July, at the gallery in Caistor Art and Heritage Centre.
