Free event to help stay active as long as possible

June 23rd, 2014 by Sandy

There is a free event due on 27th June that aims to increase awareness of staying fit, healthy, active and independent for as long as possible. This will benefit people of older age and focuses on the importance of bone health.

People of older age, their families, as well as carers, are invited to the free event, which is the ninth annual Active for Life event, being held between 11am and 4pm, at the Scala Hall, Brixham. The event is run in association with Torbay Council, Age UK- which supports fall awareness, South-Devon Heathcare NHS Foundation Trust and local charitable/voluntary organisations.

The event will focus on simple things to reduce fall or fracture risks, when getting older. Information, advice, demonstrations and the chance to take part in dance and exercises that help improve bone health, will be featured. This is also an opportunity to meet and ask questions to professionals. One can find out services that are available for you or those you care for. The free event helps us all to understand more about fall prevention and maintaining independence.
