Free events to encourage women to cycle in Bristol

June 5th, 2014 by Sandy

The City Council of Bristol will coordinate a series of workshops that are free community events, entitled “Women and Bicycles”. These workshops are developed to offer various practical advice and encourage women to cycle to work and for leisure. It is especially good for those not cycling or not much at present.

Each event will offer maps, giveaways, provide information on loan bikes and to try out child seats and trailers. A female “Dr. Bike” mechanic will check up the cycles brought in by women, while they chat with experienced female cyclists over a cup of tea. The event will highlight how cycling can improve health and well being of women. Those cycling to work in Bristol have increased over the years but women are fewer.

The next free events are scheduled on- 25 June at Greenway Centre Couthmead (10am to 12 noon); and 9 July at the Park in Knowle West (10am to 12 noon)..
