Sheffield city will be hosting its first Sky Ride ever, on 10th August, Sunday, being organised by the city council, jointly with Sky and British Cycling. The Sheffield Sky Ride event is a family ride and one of fifteen cycling events taking place in the county, part of a ‘Tour Legacy’. The free event is open to all ages.
The event allows a traffic-free ride through the city, for an expected 10,000 riders, over a route traversing from Devonshire-Green, then to Endcliffe Park, next to Bramall Lane, then back to the city centre. It would also include music, entertainment and some extreme challenges, through the riders’ route. Culture cabinet member, councillor Isobel Bowler, sees the event as an opportunity after the Tour de France to the city, to welcome all cycling tourists.
