The 43rd edition of the Chippenham folk festival is set for this bank holiday weekend. The festival will run from Friday to Monday (23rd to 26th May) and will be offering free events and ticketed events, across the 237 events scheduled. Performances include some 50 traditional dance styles. Popular ceilidh bands like Tickled Pink, Glorystrokes and Blackbeard’s Tea Party have been booked to perform. Ticketed events at the big top on River Island Park will be held between 6.30pm and 8.30pm from Saturday to Sunday. The Yirdbands, a Pewey-based folk group will perform on Saturday at the big top. The big top will be converted into an Irish bar on Sunday and Monday. A mix of traditional dance with street dance and hip hop will be done by Demon Barbers.
