Commuters at Winchester will not be allowed to use one of the free all-day parking spots. Instead, the city council will introduce waiting instructions at several spots and in car park along the Hillier Way close to the rugby club. Also, vehicles will be allowed to park for a maximum period of 3 hours with no return within 6 hours.
A car park with 32 spaces on Hillier Way (Abbotts Barton) has been in use for the past several years. This overall change in free car park has been approved by the traffic and parking committee. The city council is also planning to bring about parking facility for residents alone throughout the area of Abbotts Barton in order to restrict people parking their vehicles and taking a walk.
