The Liberal Democrats announced that they would be providing free nursery school seats in Devon and Cornwall.
With practically 12,000 children in the two year old age group who are not able to attend schools in Devon and Cornwall due to lack of finances, the Liberal Democrats have offered free nursery school places to the schools in these counties.
The Deputy Prime Minister, Mr. Nick Clegg stated that a sum of 100 million pounds will be provided to town halls to be used on new nursery schools in an attempt to make certain that children from the not-so-affluent families could benefit from the government’s promise to provide free child care.
From the month of September of the year 2013, 130,000 of the two-year olds from the poorest of families would be eligible for a weekly duration of fifteen hours and this number would become two fold in the year after. The initiative would cost the government an annual sum of 760 million pounds.
With this venture 37,000 children in the two years age group would thus qualify for places in Devon and Cornwall in the first year and 7900 kids would qualify the following year.
Nevertheless the anticipated increase in requirement would imply that an additional 100,000 seats would have to be provided as the county offices would have to handle the new legal issues that would be involved with to provide for the poorest of homes.
The offices would have to utilise the money available from the budget of the Department of Education (DfE) such that the current providers are convinced that they would have to extend their reach and assist others to come on to the scene.
The members in the local offices anticipate that this would give a good start to the market and encourage private sectors to voluntarily establish nurseries other than just helping to encourage what the council provides.
The Liberal Democratic Leader Mr. Nick Clegg stated that such a lot of things regarding the future of a child were considered even before the child has had the chance to put his foot into the school premises.
He said that it was imperative that everyone does their mite to ensure that the capabilities of the child are identified by the influencing factors like birth. He remarked that this was the reason for the government providing hundreds of thousands of kids just turned two, accessibility to free education in the course of the years that follow.
He stated that providing excellent education will give the child an early start before they even set foot onto their first school.
