The ‘Double Header’ will be going back to Sonning Lane, and to commemorate the Olympians the ladies Reading Hockey team will be taking on the University of Birmingham at 1.30 in the afternoon on Saturday and there will be entry fee for the event.
The day after that the men’s team of Reading Hockey Club will be up against East Grinstead and the new entrant Darren Cheeseman will be getting ready to make his entry into home league opposite his former club.
Though the event commences only at 2.30 pm people will be allowed to enter from 12.30 pm onwards. The cost of tickets would be just six pounds for adults and four pounds for concession at the gate. - Surbiton won a game on the first day of the Investec Women’s Premier Division by beating Reading 4-0.
- He continued that Sarah Page gave an early lead by hitting home from open play and Chloe Strong made the best of the penalty corner to clinch a 2-0 at the end of 53 minutes.
- Under the leadership of the new Manager Steve Bayer surrendered in the premier game soon after and a penalty stroke was hit by Natalie Bell just two minutes before the end of play following a discovery of foul play in front of goal. The wonderful commencement of Surbiton was finished juts at the last minute when Bethan Jenkins struck a fourth from a penalty corner.
- Surbiton made the best use of the Reading Hockey team that only had Kate Walsh, the captain and Helen Richardson form their seven member GB Olympic team to play for it.
- The reigning champions Reading displayed a really brutal spell in fort of goal when the defeated Hampstead and Westminster at 7-3 in the first match of the Men’s hockey League Premier Division.
- The man in form for the Reading team was Richard Mantell who with great expertise packed three penalty corners in a row, helping his team comfortably win the match. The performance from the Reading team was inspiring and there were many new entrants who helped the club to hold on to their title.
