The new concept of a health and safety drop-in session is being given a trial run for commercial enterprises on the Moreland Trading Estate in Gloucester.
The commercial firms in Moreland Trading Estate in Gloucester will be the premier people to have the advantage of this new health and safety drop-in sessions.
The Health and Safety team members of the City Council will be available on the 11th of September to speak on a variety of topics concerning health, welfare and safety.
An approximate sum of four billion pounds is being spent by the society on injuries taking place in places of work and on account of ill health. Particularly in Gloucester, infirmity and injuries in work places cost 31 million pounds on an average every year.
The promoters of the drop-in sessions hope that such pliable sessions would help more business firms to participate.
Cabinet Member for Housing, Health and Leisure of Gloucester City Council, Councillor Colin Organ stated that commercial enterprises must make the most of the drop-in session for both general as well as special counsel concerning health and protection at the work place.
He went on to say that they were hoping that the session would turn out to be useful and that they would be able to provide the likes of it to various other trading places in the city.
He also said that they were aware of the difficulty that the smaller firms will have to participate in prearranged classes as it would imply that the people would have to use up a lot of time away from their businesses and that it was not always convenient to do so. Councillor Organ added that that was why he hoped that the flexible drop-in session would be a better idea that would help more people to take advantage of it.
