The well known chain of stores will soon be offering free Wi-Fi connectivity at all its physical stores in the UK.
Mark & Spencer is getting all set to provide Wi-Fi connections to all its customers free of cost. This facility will be made available at all their physical stores. The first of the trials will commence at a flagship outlet in Liverpool to check whether the retail in high street can mix conveniently with secure online shopping.
Chief Executive Marc Bolland will lead the crusade and offer Marks & Spencer a completely novel technological upper hand that steers away from the conventional methods of retail selling.
The free Wi-Fi connectivity by Marks & Spencer is designed for the purpose of helping customers to browse through the entire list of things available in the store via their smartphones through secure online shopping and at the same time urging them to go into the physical Marks & Spencer outlets instead of doing all their shopping via the Internet sitting at home.
The Wi-Fi connections will also be utilised by the more devoted shopping assistants inside the store and they will have their own iPad tablets. This would help them cater to the requirements of the shoppers better, especially for those who may need their assistance when they are just being introduced to retail online shopping.
According to the Telegraph, the Mark & Spencer will be investing a total sum of 250 million pounds to enhance the facilities inside the store as well as to overhaul its web services.
In the meantime approximately half a billion pounds has been set aside for starting new retails outlets in spite of the fact that the high streets in the UK have not been faring extremely well in the past couple of years. This as one can guess results from the decrease in the economy and market conditions as well as the increase in e-commerce.
Marks & Spencer is in fact investing more money than any of the other retailer in the country in order to enhance its technological properties, which in the long run will only be advantageous to the shoppers who make the most of both online shopping as well as go out to the shops for their requirements.
The firm has targeted to touch at least 800 million pounds in sales through shopping via the Internet, though Mr. Bolland has said that they hope to touch at least one billion pounds.
