Staring form the coming month, Cornwall College proposes to offer the study of math and English GCSEs free of cost to any person of any age.
This notice comes soon after the Skills Fund Agency decided to permit people who had no grades to be entitled for complete financing when they are doing the course irrespective of what their earlier qualifications might be.
This therefore implies that no matter how old a person is, they would be eligible to avail of a totally new qualification or better their present grades.
The Corporate Curriculum head for Continuing and community Education at Cornwall College, Ms. Vicky Cox stated that there was all the time a hope that the GCSEs begin to lose their significance as a person goes ahead with their education or career, but she remarked that in fact, it was not really true.
For a lot of professions like teaching, emergency services and nursing other than applying for entrance to a university a “C” grade or above in basic subjects like Math and English was still tantamount. This therefore meant that availing good grades in these subjects was vital.
The GCSE courses in English and Math will be offered by Cornwall College at Camborne, Saltash and St. Austell university campuses both as evening and part-time courses commencing from September of the current year.
