Commemorating it shift to High Barnet from Whetstone, a community wind orchestra is providing a free seminar.
The wind orchestra by the name Da Capo Concert Band is shifting to St. John the Baptist Church in High Street, in High Barnet from All Saints School in Whetstone, the location it had been since past fifteen years from 1997.
To celebrate the shift as well as to urge new members to become a part of their organization, the orchestra is hosting an open rehearsal at the church on the 15th of September from 10.20 am to 5.30 pm.
The band has sent invitations to brass, wood wind and percussion players to participate and play different wind band collections.
They also intend providing lunch to the participants and the event would conclude with a small recital to display the work of the day.
The Da Capo Concert Band has much experience in playing wind orchestra, performing with a varied collection of works that also consist of pieces by Holst and Sparke. The Band will be celebrating its 15th Anniversary in November.
There are at present 40 members in the band and they would like that new member who join have if nothing else, standards of Grade 6. Rehearsals will be conducted on all Wednesdays for two hours from 8 t0 10 pm.
John Milne the Music Director stated that they were eagerly looking forward belonging to exciting community of High Barnet. He remarked that St. John the Baptist church was a great and centrally placed site with good sound effects.
He also added that they band hopes that all wind and brass players in the locality would go over and give them a trial.
