Free Health ChecksAdults and children living in the region of the Fayette County, who are not insured can benefit from the free health checks and the screenings that is being sponsored by the University Of Kentucky College Of Medicine. This community health fair is being conducted on the 11th of August.

The Multicultural Health Fair would be held from 10 o’clock in the morning to 6 o’clock in the evening and would consist of both indoor as well as outdoor activities and screenings linked to health. The venue would be 807 Limestone St. on the campus of UK right opposite the Kentucky Clinic that is located across the street.

Blood sugar tests, physical examinations, dental checks and other tests would be included in the free health check and tests. Other than just the students from the College of Medicine, there would also be students from the UK College of Dentistry, College of Nursing, College of Health Sciences, College of Public Health and College of Pharmacy who would be taking part in offering their services to the people in the Fayette County who are underserved.

Introduced in the year 2000 in the spring, the programme that was earlier known by the name Hispanic Health Fair, had assisted approximately between 3050 to 500 people in the Latino community with health care totally free of charge. This current year, in an effort to improve their services and care for the whole community, people belonging to the different cultures and races have been urged to join hands with the sponsors and event co-ordinators in the anticipation that they would be able to help between 750 and 1,000 patients.

The New Chandler Hospital has offered to allow free parking facilities in their parking place off South Limestone and also the parking lot on the eastern side of Press Ave that says “Employee”. People can reach the Health Fair directly with stops on the Lextran routes numbered 5 and 23.
