Free Concert in Paralympic GamesA free concert in Bath to celebrate the start of the Paralympic Games would be conducted with disco band Car Wash of 1979s fame and an Elvis Presley mimic, having offered to provide free performances.

The councils of North East Somerset and Bath would be conducting a programme in honour of the start of the Paralympic Flames at the Rec even before the Games commence in the capital.

The programme has been scheduled for Saturday the 25th August and would be one of the thirty four events being hosted throughout the UK to commemorate the commencement of the Paralympic Torch Relay. The band Car Wash, famous for their disco song covers from the seventies along with an Elvis Presley mimic Ivor Potter called Suspiciously Elvis will be providing free performances.

The breakfast newsreader of BBC Radio 1, Dominic Byrne will be the Master of Ceremonies and would be the person interviewing the team members of the ParalympicGB.

The Flame Celebration would be happening throughout the day from 10 o’clock in the morning to 9o’clock in the night. And the main objective of the programme would be to get all people in the township together to experience a taste sessions of the Paralympic sport, live music as well as a procession of the carnival.

A total of four Flames would be lighted in London, Belfast, Edinburgh and Cardiff in honour of the Paralympic Torch Relay.

The leader of the council of Bath and North East Somerset, Councillor Paul Crossley would go with the Bath born Steven brunt, the twice winner of the Gold Medal to receive the lamp from the flame on Friday from Trafalgar Square.

The lantern will then be carried from Holburn Museum to the Rec escorted by nine selected lantern bearers through the carnival procession on Saturday.

Councillor Crossley stated that the council was extremely proud that they were able to conduct the Flame Celebration and that they were very happy that they could arrange their own Paralympic Lantern Relay.

He stated that the programme was a means by which they could express their backing for Britain’s team that selected the University of Bath as they main base ahead of setting out for London for the Games.

Though people can watch the event free, they must ensure that they avail of their free tickets in advance. The tickets would be made available from Monday the 6th of August.
