Free WiFi UndergroundIn just a matter of seven days a million Tweets, emails, Facebook Posts, and web pages have been passed via the London Underground service. This just reveals that many varieties of requests have been passing under the ground and its all due to the installation of the new free Wi-Fi on the London Underground Service, by TfL and Virgin Media. As of the present this free Wi-Fi facility has been made accessible in forty pone stations and it is said that it will be extended to 120 stations by the end of the current year.

In addition people availing access to tube Internet facilities would also be able to avail of instant travel details and they will also have free accessibility to the listings magazine Time Out, Fillum site MyMovies.net and the music streaming service Spotify.

One of the drawbacks of this facility is that any one who wishes to be linked to the web must be at some station, because this facility would work on platforms, ticket halls and escalators but not on the train.

In spite of this drawback, one must realize that the wireless connectivity is totally free and all it requires is an email address for registration. There are no hidden or extra charges for the travellers. The cost would be borne by Virgin Media throughout the summer and it will also continue to offer the free service to Virgin Media users after the summer and the close of the Olympic Games. Alternate broadband providers could make use of this facility to their consumers if they are willing to pay Virgin Media for the infrastructure.
