Parents who would like to sign up for the course can enter their postal code into a nationwide website to know where their local classes would be held.

The Highfield Church in Southampton would be one of the churches that would be part of this national initiative.

Sammy Jordan, the Family and Children Co-ordinator stated that the classes were a priceless chance for parents to avail of the support and build up parenting techniques of their own.

The lady remarked that it was vital that parents and carers did not assume that these courses were only for those who had problems.

She stated that the courses were a part of the association’s instruction to assist parents deal with children playing truant and those with behavioural problems.

She explained that there was the need to break the barrier and that parenting did not have any books that can guide the parents and often the parents did not get the requisite support that they desperately required.

Ms. Jordan pointed out that many parents who attend the course have their own techniques of parenting that they have developed through experience and frequently these courses in parenting help them time to improve on their own expertise.

The classes offered generally consist of talks by experienced people or they could also be seen on DVD with workbooks to do exercises.

By and larges the courses are totally free though there are certain churches that may ask for a small sum as voluntary contribution.

Chairman of the National Parenting Initiative, banker Ken Costa, said that a course in parenting was a great investment in a family and that the classes were meant for anyone who would be interested in enhancing their parental expertise.

He also added that the materials of the course were based on the principals of Christianity, but on the whole the courses were created for parents belonging to any religion or even for those who did not believe in religion.

It has been found that a broken family would cost the taxpayer an amount to the sum of up to 24 billion pounds annually.
