The vacation season being just round the corner and the council is planning to provide a free and continuous facility to the people living in the region that will help alleviate anxiety and not get on neighbours’ nerves.
People who are planning to go on vacation and are interested in signing up for the free service could log on to http//:www.n-kesteven.gov.uk. On the site they would have to look for ‘alarms’ and enter the information regarding key holders who can switch off the alarm if they are not at home.
The local office noise control team have are lawfully empowered to shut off an alarm that could cause annoyance, but would have to give the cost to the person living in the household.
Those residents who wish to ensure that their home is protected and at the same time would like to see that their neighbours are not disturbed could register for the free service to make sure it would be set up by a competent engineer, see that it is maintained and ensure that it is fitted with a cut-off device to see that it does not ring for too long a time.
North Kesteven District Council Executive Member, Councillor Richard Wright stated that everyone understood what a nuisance noise can be and when a false alarm goes off it can get on everyone’s nerves, but that can be avoided and their noise control team that visits the households will do it totally free of cost.
