June 11th, 2012 by Sandy

This free programme of parenting classes that is being started of in Peterborough is a part of a movement that has been led by churches across the UK. Of the five hundred churches throughout the UK that are getting ready to host these programmes as a part of the initiative, three churches in the city are also included. This initiative has been named National Parenting Initiative.

The three churches Open Door Church, in Hallfields Lane, in Gunthorpe, Peterborough International Christian Centre on Lincoln Road, in Millfield and KingsGate Community Church in Staplee Way, in Parnwell will be participating in the programme that starts off on June 17th Father’s Day.  Caretakers and parents of kids will be offered counselling on how they can handle the recuirements of the children, how they can set boundaries for them, anger and stress management as well as creating a great family life.

The Chairman of the National Parenting Initiative, banker Ken Costa remarked that a course in parenting was a terrific investment in a family. The courses could be availed of by any person who wished to enhance their parental expertise. The study material for the classes would be based on the principles of Christianity; nevertheless the lessons are so created that parents of any or no faith and religion can participate.

The parenting courses are absolutely free, but some churches may possibly call for some sort of contribution for food and other miscellaneous expenses.
