Sky is rewarding its broadband customers by giving them an opportunity to access unlimited free Wi-Fi. The free wireless internet service that will benefit millions of Sky broadband customers is being offered through The Cloud, its subsidiary. The service named ‘Sky Cloud Wi-Fi’ would enable customers to access unlimited internet from Wi-Fi hotspots in cafés, pubs, restaurants and stations. Sky Cloud Wi-Fi will be provided in place where over 4m people pass each day. Some of the places include Pizza Express, Eat, Caffè Nero, Pret A Manger, and Wagamama and First Great Western trains.
Since January, over 4,000 hotspots are added to the network of The Cloud. These new hotpots are added under a major rollout programme of the company. Under the scheme, Sky broadband Unlimited, Sky Fibre Unlimited as well as Sky Connect customers can have access to free Wi-Fi via their wireless enabled smart phones, laptops and tablets. Customers on 3G mobile data plans can save significantly on the monthly limits by changing to Wi-Fi.
Along with the launch of Sky Cloud Wi-Fi service, the company will unveil companion app for Android devices and Apple iOS that will enable the customers to access internet connection in different placed from their device. This app will prevent the customers from logging in continuously.
