Facebook to offer free advertising

Small businesses will benefit from free advertising from Facebook. For offering free advertising Facebook has set aside £4.2 million. As part of the Ad Boost programme from Facebook, small companies in the UK, France, Spain, Germany, and Italy will
receive up to €100 each as ad credits to spend of the website. Around 50,000 firms will be able to make use of the credit and can take advantage of the social media. Partnering with British Chambers of Commerce, Facebook will conduct a series of events in the UK. Similar events will be held in the coming six months.

A recent study from Deloitte reveals the impact of Facebook on the UK economy. It suggests the site’s contribution to the Britain’s economy. It offers over 35,000 jobs and offers £2.2 billion. Facebook chief operating officer, Sheryl Sandberg said that social networking offers much more. She said that by investing properly on the social media, they could contribute to economic growth and encourage innovation. The company’s president and chief executive officer David Karnstedt said that marketers are offering new bets to improve advertising spend, focusing on fan acquisition.

The initiative by Facebook to offer free ads to small businesses is definitely a sensible approach. Small firms from all over the country should utilize this opportunity.
