Prepare two Free meals, to win the Chef of the year 2011

The cooks throughout the UK have been asked to formulate a three course ‘Gluten-free food’ for two persons to win the ‘Gluten-Free Chef of the Year’ competition, by ‘Coeliac UK.’

The celebrity cook Phil Vickery will be the judge to decide the winner.

The contest is arranged by the ‘Craft Guild of Chefs’ and the ‘Institute of Hospitality’ for the second year. All the proficient cooks and catering college students are eligible to participate in the competition, the final of which will be held at Unilever Food Solutions Culinary Business Development Centre, Leatherhead, on 8th of November.

There are two categories in the competition – ‘Gluten-free Chef of the Year’ for professionals and ‘Up and Coming Gluten-free Chef of the year’ for the students.

The recipe should:

  • Be apt for informal dining, cafeteria and restaurants
  • Be appropriate for all the four seasons
  • Be novel, and at the same time simple and easy to serve
  • Be economical
  • Be delicious and of good quality and of flavour

Three participants will be selected from each category on 21st October.

Phil Vickery will be assisted by a few catering experts including Adam Gray, who was the Executive Chef at Rhodes Twenty Four in London. Incidentally he is the joint owner of   The Red Lion and Shires Cookery School, East Haddon, Northamptonshire.
