Vodafone’s JustTextGiving is the UK’s first text donation service that is completely free. Started as an initiative to help transform the charity sector, JustTextGiving recently partnered with Vodafone, thereby allowing people to donate via a simple text message. The merger aims to make the donation process, instant and spontaneous.
How does it work?
JustTextGiving service allows charities and fund raisers collect donations for their group using text messages. Every group will have a unique code, and volunteers can donate money to schools, sanctuaries, hospices or any other group that is registered with JustGiving. The charity will receive every donated penny, which means that there is no commission or any catch in-between. The texts are free across all networks in the UK and you need not be a Vodafone user to donate via, or use the JustTextGiving service.
Information for Charities
The service is free for all charities, big or small. To get started, you have to create a JustGiving fundraising page and then a Vodafone Individual Code (VIC) unique to your group. Once you advertise this code to your friends, family and supporters, they can donate money to your charity by sending a text message to 70070. Vodafone and JustGiving offer help and free support packs to help you set this all up. Your JustGiving page on the web will show all the donations you receive.

JustTextGiving is a free, convenient and instant way to donate money. The charities or the fundraisers will advertise a unique code once they sign up with JustTextGiving. These codes are called the Vodafone Individual Codes (VIC’s). Once you get the code, text your charity’s VIC with the amount you wish to donate (£1, £2, £3, £4, £5 or £10) and send it to 70070. These texts are free on Vodafone and all other networks. The amount you donate will be deduced from your phone credit or added to your mobile bill, and you do not have to pay VAT on the donation.
