Free session on Self defence for women in Leicester

There will be free self-defence session has been organized on Friday – March 8, 2019 at the BRITE Centre, Braunstone Avenue, Leicester, Leicestershire LE3 1LE. The session will be led by a taekwondo instructor Tamsin at 1 pm and last for 25 minutes.

As a part of celebrating International Women’s Day, Tamsin is holding such free session on self-defence art for women. Taekwondo means “the art of hand and foot”. You can learn knee kicks, straight punch, taekwondo kicks and strikes at the session.

The session is for women of all ages and abilities and they can learn simple defence acts. The instructor Tamsin is running an online community ‘Taekwondo4Women’ that motivates girls and women to try and learn martial arts for their self defence.

She is also starting regular taekwondo classes at the BRITE Centre mainly for mums returning back to do exercise. For those who do not know about this art, it will be a great sport for them to learn more techniques used in self-defence. The new classes will be held on Friday – March 15 at 10 am and every Friday thereafter at the above centre. Beginners and new members are welcome to the session.

Tamsin has turned as a mother and returning back to taekwondo after having children. When she practically experienced the importance of the art, she is inspired to form the club for women.
Tamsin said that doing hard exercises like jumping, etc will cause pressure and pain on the pelvic which affect the women’s health after their pregnancies. As she experienced such problems, she started feeling of providing ease exercise for mothers like her for improving their fitness and she uses mostly basic and low impact exercises for those returning to the sport.
