Free course & tasters on film making in Barrow

There has been free tasters and workshops on practical film-making for budding young filmmakers aged between 16 to 19 years old, organised by Barrow Charity Signal Film and Media. This is as a part of Get Digital Course which is getting started from Wednesday – January 16, 2019.

Get Digitalis is a programme that involves various activities framed to develop creative digital skills and leadership qualities among the youngsters of Cumbria. The course will run for 3 months. The participants will be offered with hands on film skills sessions, a chance to make documentary or dramatic films and one to one mentoring along with an accredited qualification.

The students are given opportunity to take part in a project which is funded by the Cumbria Police Crime Commissioner Community Fund. And there will be a short film on Hate crime shot in 3 days from January 16-19. those interested will have to visit on January 16 & 17 from 5.30 to 8 pm and January 19 will be a full day session.

The main part of the course ‘Get Digital’ will take place every Tuesday starting from January 22 until March 12, 2019, during evenings from 5.30 pm to 7.30 pm at Cooke’s Studios,104 Abbey Rd, Barrow-in-Furness LA14 5QR and there will be a 3 full day shoots during February half term.

Julia Parks – Project Manager said that this is really a fun and practical experience programme for youngsters which covers script writing, story telling, editing, cinematography, special effects and many more skills. This will help the budding youngsters to develop their media skills and also get a chance to meet professionals in the field.
