Free event on forming strong farm businesses

The law firm Ledingham Chalmers in association with Galbraith – a property consultancy and Johnston Carmichael – chartered accountants, has organised for a free event on Tuesday – November 27, 2018 at Stirling Agriculture Centre, A84, Stirling FK9 4RN, United Kingdom. The session will run from 7 pm to 8.30 pm.

The seminar covers the subject matter on how to build a strong farm business successfully & managing various aspects of the industry such as regulatory, political and economical aspects.

This is the second one among four events planned and the first one was held in Castle Douglas in the beginning of this month.

The topics will be covered in this event are:

  • How to strengthen & protect your assets for better succession planning
  • Updates on National Farm, Land, Estate and Forestry market.
  • Implications of Capital taxes.
  • Q&A session

Linda Tinson is the Head of Rural, Land and Business of Ledingham Chalmers and she will be present and speak on four sessions along with the representatives from their other partners.

Linda said that with various challenges in the agricultural industry and Scotland is having vast rural community, it is very important to create, develop and grow the business strongly. They will tell about in their sessions on how to work with the business advisors to increase the outcomes and meet the change.

Robert Taylor – a partner in Galbraith will explain the farmers about the benefits of diversification and how they can get access to the funding via the Agricultural Mortgage Corporation. He also said that the Scottish agricultural sector is proficient in tackling the challenges and political uncertainty. There will be various options available for farmers in finding finance. So it is helpful to them to get better advise at right time on deciding upon working capital, debt restructuring, purchase of land or new buildings erection.

Tax Partner from Johnston Carmichael’s Edinburgh office – Alexandra Docherty said that the landscape is keep changing and the farmers should ensure about their business strength to manage with these changes.
