UK’s famous street food caterers – Jabberwocky Street Food will be coming to North Wales for offering tips to the local culinary businesses on Tuesday – November 13, 2018. The workshop has been organised by the North East Wales Food Forum and it provides tips & guidance on how to succeed in getting into street food businesses.
The free workshop will be held at the Pontcysyllte Chapel Tearoom, Station Road, Trevor, Llangollen between 4 pm to 8 pm. The workshop is focused on those planning to set up a mobile business, proposing to expand their existing businesses and food producers.
Jabberwocky Street Food is being run by the couple Flic and Barny Luxmoore and they have showcased their talents of dish up of toasties done at various events, festivals and weddings across the country. Both husband and wife have given up their careers and engaged in full time business. They are experts in toasties and served about 50000 customers and participated in around 250 events. They can cook 120 toasties on an average in an hour.
Flic, who has written a book “Street Food Soliloquy”, will share his experiences with the participants to support those who want to have their own street food business. She added that they both are passionate on cooking and left their job in a restaurant and started a street food company to sell modern foods. They conceived the idea of bringing comfortable food prepared using local produce, hence decided to try out toasties and having 100 of varieties of toasties now. When they started business, they did not have proper support, though street food was more prevalent in big cities. In North East Wales, there is more chance to develop and the couple will be helping to explain each and every thing from starting a business to become successful profit making business.
Jane Clough from North East Wales Food Forum said that they are expecting to inspire caterers/ new businesses and provide them with all the tools / techniques. There is an increased demand for street food over the few years and it is the best chance for caterers to grow. So to help them, organising for such a workshop where Jabberwocky couples will share their experiences.
The participating businesses will also get a chance to join in with Light up Local Food & Drink which has 5 Christmas events across North East Wales.
