Free taster on ‘Dance On’ for older residents at Otley

To encourage elder people to be more active and stay fit, the older residents in Otley are invited to try out a free taster session on dancing on Tuesday – October 30, 2018 at Methodist Church located at 65 Walkergate, Otley LS21 1AG and scheduled between 2 pm to 3 pm. Thereafter from next week at the same timing, there will regular classes conducted.

A special new dance called “Dance On” which is specially designed for those aged above 55 years and funded by Sports England to enable them to overcome their inactivity. The new dance classes will be conducted by One Dance UK, Darts (Doncaster Community Arts) and Yorkshire Dance at various locations of Bradford, Leeds and Doncaster.

The classes at Otley will be hosted by Otley Action for Older People with an admission fee of £4. Otley Action for Older People is a registered charity and community based organisation for older residents in Otley, Arthington and Pool. The main aim of the organisation is to make the older people to live independently in their home and actively participating in the community with their services and promoting health & well being to lead a a quality life.

The Programme Director at Yorkshire Dance – Hannah Robertshaw said that they are very delighted to start such a specially designed dance “Dance On” in Otley for older adults as a part of their expanding programme. They are committed to bring joyful and artistic experience for the participants and make them to feel the real benefits of dance say exercise, fun and companionship along with their group.
