Free workshop on lantern making for families

Popular Crook Christmas Lights Parade is back this year and will be held on Sunday – November 25, 2018. Get ready for the lights parade.

Jackdrum Arts in Crook is inviting residents to participate in their free workshop on lantern making. Jackdrum Arts is a locally based business providing company bringing cultural opportunities for the community in Durham county through organising various workshops for all ages and abilities.

The free workshop has been organised on Saturday, October 6 & October 13, 2018 between 10.30 am to 4.30 pm. The sessions will be held at St Cuthbert’s Centre, Church Hill, Crook, DL15 9DN.

Helen Ward, one of the Directors, said that they are happy about funding by Northern Heartlands for the parade this year also and encouraging families to take part in making their own lanterns and join the parade on November 25 along with the group. At the workshop, the artists will share their skills and explain the participants on how to create, design, decorate willow to make lanterns from the stories of Christmas.

Although, the sessions are free, advance booking is required to manage the numbers and allocation will be done on the basis of first come first serve.
