There has been free taster on sports and fitness activities on Wednesday – September 26, 2018 for all ages of people to mark the importance on National Fitness Day. The sessions have been organised by Sports Development Team of Tamworth Borough Council along with sports clubs in the area. Already the council has organised various events of free Zumba strong Sessions and Playscheme.
The free taster sessions will be held at Castle Grounds Tennis Courts and run from 9.30 am to 6.45 pm. It is aimed to provide an opportunity to the people to try out various physical activities and sports classes for free, to make them active and stay fit. These activities help them in reducing the issues of stroke, heart problems, diabetes, stress, depression, Alzheimer and dementia. Atleast two and half an hour exercise in a week make adults to stay healthy as per some recent research.
Various free activities on the day include Zumba (9.30-10.30am), Zumba Strong (6-6.45pm), Group led cycle (10-11am), Group led walk (9.30-10.30am), Bootcamp session (10.30-11.30am), Chair based exercise (10-11am) and Kettlebells. There will be free blood pressure testing of “mini MOT”, BMI and Cholesterol check for above 50 years hosted by Everyone Health and free Body fat analysis & free pass for using Spa hosted by Snowdome.
Cabinet member for Culture and Operational Services – Cllr John Chesworth said that these activities are becoming very popular and he is happy about recent success of Strong Zumba and the summer Playscheme. They are working with various local sport clubs and individuals to put together various activities on National Fitness Day. He is encouraging more number of people to make use of this great opportunity and stay healthy.
