There has been free taster sessions on Morris dancing on Thursdays – September 20 & 27, 2018 at Hurst Village Hall, School Road, Hurst, RG10 0DR organised by Hurst Morris People known as HuMP. HuMP are based in Hurst Village near Reading in Berkshire and they are a friendly group of musicians and dancers. These sessions will be scheduled between 8 pm to 10 pm.
Those interested in morris dance can come along with your better half as the group is inviting both men and women or with a friend to try out dancing with more fun. These sessions are free and they provide the participants with delicious home-made cakes, tea /coffee.
Squire Karen Ricketts said that morris dancing is a combination of fun, easy to learn, live music and like an exercise at the gym for the beats. These taster sessions will have a tea break with a home made cake and thereafter going to the pub. Men, women, musicians and dancers are welcome and no need of prior experiecne is required. The group is having members of all age group with all backgrounds. Some of them danced for folk music also.
New dancer Mel said that during last year’s taster sessions, he felt that it was a novel way to spend the time in an evening. In initial days of practice he doubted his ability to dance. But with a friendly welcome, more enthusiastic people, made him to keep going and trying. Just take part in free taster sessions as it is full of fun, sociable and also good exercise to stay fit.
