Free events for Superhero picnic in the parks at Derby

Superhero Picnic in the park has come back this summer. Upon celebration of 12th year of Love Parks Week 2018 which is an yearly celebration of UK’s fantastic green spaces and people between 13th to 22nd July, 2018, Derby county wants its residents to come out of their homes and celebrate the wonderful green places in the city.

In continuation of the Love Parks Week, there will be coming to Derby city with Superhero picnic in the park at three locations. The events are designed for the superhero picnic in the park to make families in the city to dress up like super heroes and get down to their favourite parks. So the residents of Derby are encouraged to dress up like your favourite Wonder Woman, Superman, Batman and many more like and join the free events at the greeny spaces.

You can find free events in the following parks:

  • On Tuesday July 31, 2018 at Markeaton Park located at Markeaton Ln, Derby DE22 4AA, UK
  • On Wednesday August 1, 2018 at Chaddesden Park located at Maine Dr, Derby DE21 6LA, UK
  • On Thursday August 2, 2018 at Darley Park located at Darley Park Rd, Derby DE22 1DA, UK

All three events for superhero picnic in the parts are free to attend and there will be many activities running from 11 am to 3 pm. Families can get a chance to participate in full host of activities with charities and various local businesses available on the day.

Last year’s Derby Arboretum famous, the Bumblebee Conservation Trust will be coming to all the 3 parks for the events and their team will teach the children about the super powers of bumblebees and what makes her to become a superhero, event of bumblebee masks making and offering kids to take part in have a go in bumblebee super power activities.

For the first time, a team from DerwentWISE will be coming this year to join the fun at Darley Park to celebrate their 5 years of DerwentWISE in the big top with giant circus style. They will make mini mosaics for the children which can be taken home using clay to create highland cow out of willow, ancient fossils and finding more from the nature in the park. Their activities are based on the Lower Derwent Valley landscape’s themes and everything is free to participate.
