Skillshop 2018 at Portsmouth

Southsea Green has organised for “Skillshop 2018” with various free workshops on gardening and crafts throughout 2018. The skills workshops are being funded by the Big Lottery and offer to take the participants outdoor, try out something new and meet the new people to make this summer more enjoyable and memorable.

Started in 2011, Southsea Green is a Community Orchard & swap shop for plants, vegetables and seeds. They are also offering gardening tips and crafts to the local people and visitors. The products offered at the shop are locally grown organic Fruits & Vegetables, Arts & Crafts made by them and ethically sourced Plants, flower and bouquets and bedding.

The details of free workshops are as follows:

  • On Saturday – July 28, 2018, there will be a “Singing for Joy with Becki” at 1 pm at Southsea Green located at Canoe Lake, PO1 4DY Southsea. Join Becki to sing along and find some music of old and new with friends and Becki has 7+ years of experience in teaching line and 10+ years in the music industry.

  • On Saturday – July 28, 2018, there will be “Harps: Garden Mindfulness” workshop at 2 pm at Southsea Green. Come along to enjoy the wonderful sounds that you can learn to make at the harp workshop from the qualified harpist.

  • On Tuesday – August 7, 2018, there will be Workshop on “Worms/ water/ upcycling/ Composting & Sustainability” between 1 pm to 3 pm at Southsea Green. Find ideas and tips on how to recycle, reuse, composting, conserve water etc.

  • On August 9, 2018, there will be “Summer fun, create and collage pots” workshop between 12 noon to 2 pm at Eastney Community Centre located at Bransbury Park, PO4 9SU Portsmouth. The sessions are open to only Adults where they can learn to use paints/ collage to make decoration of terracotta pot/ a recycled can.

  • On August 11, 2018, there will be “Wonderful Weaving” workshop between 1 pm to 2 pm at Southsea Green. Workshop for all ages and shows using natural materials how you can create something beautiful on your own for your home/garden. You are requested to bring secateurs if you have.

  • On August 22, 2018, there will “Fused Glass Suncatcher” workshop where you can design and make your own glass sun-catcher between 1.15 pm to 2.45 pm at Eastney Community Centre located at Bransbury Park, PO4 9SU Portsmouth.
