Summer Festival
Summer Festival 2018 has been organised by the V&A Museum of Childhood on Sunday – July 22, 2018 at their museum located at Cambridge Heath Road, London E2 9PA United Kingdom. This is a free drop in event which will take place between 11.30 am to 4.30 pm on the day.
The national museum of childhood, the V&A Museum of Childhood is the largest institution. Their mission is to keep and maintain the childhood collections and be a leader in driving the visitors to engage in the culture and feel of the childhood. Generally the museum is providing free admission and will be open from 10 am to 5.45 pm.
The annual festival of the museum is back now with live music and entertainment for all ages of people. Come along with your family and enjoy face paints, rickshaw rides, henna and live music by Drumming Ensemble of South London’s samba and Balkan music Trio, various games, funny acts by Ian Marchant, juggler & entertainer, walk through various stalls and taste at delicious food stalls and many more to enjoy.
Century of the Child
There will be a free admission to exhibition of 20th Century’s iconic Nordic designs for kids brought from Brio, Lego, Moomins and Marimekko for the first time running from 30th March 2018 to 2nd September 2018 at the V&A Museum.
The exhibition shows how the children inspired by the 20th century’s most vital designs, literature and architecture. The aim of the exhibition is to find out the culture of exchanging ideas by Nordic countries & Britain and explore the impact of children centred designs globally. The exhibition has various Nordic Icons which include IKEA, Arne Jacobsen, Baby Björn, Alvar Aalto and Tetra Pak. There is also Nordic based interactive sessions for families in the exhibition.
Nordic Summer Family Days
In continuation to and inspired by the Nordic design exhibition, there will be free drop-in summer family days for all ages which will be celebrated on every Thursdays from August 2 to August 30, 2018. The event will take place at V&A Museum of Childhood between 11 am to 4 pm.
Please join the museum for free family days as a Go Nordic in this summer to celebrate and enjoy the following activities.
Folk
On August 2, 2018, there will be a folk based performance, story telling and drawing.
At Home
On August 9, 2018, there will be nordic design themed creative design workshops by the designers for home and furniture.
Nature
On August 16, 2018, there will be activities of story telling and craft making about the nature of nordic countries and also you can meet special guest animals from Spitalfields City Farm.
Fashion
On August 23, 2018, there will be hands on fashion designing sessions where you can try out designing with children’s clothes in the exhibition.
Green Design
On August 30,2018, there will be activities with finding new ecological designs.
