The Stockton Heath Festival is on this week from Thursday – July 5 to Sunday – July 8, where the community will gather to enjoy and celebrate art, music, dance, drama and local culture and many events and activities are taking place around the city. Most of the events are free but some of them are paid events for which tickets need to be purchased before online or can be bought from the box office at the Forge (Stockton Heath). Here below are some of free events and activities at the festival to enjoy.
Festival Art Exhibition
There is an Art Exhibition, an annual event where you can find the creations of local amateur artists at St Thomas Church. The judges will select first & second prizes and the public can vote for their favourite arts for the “Tudor Pole” Award.
The exhibition will be held from Wednesday – Juy 4 at 10am and run till July 8 as scheduled below.

Virtual Reality Experience & Gaming
Free to visit Computer Games Designs of Priestley College located at Loucher’s Lane, WA4 6RD on Thursday – July 5 between 4.30 pm to 5.30 pm and you will wonder the talents of young students with their designs. You can experience the gaming designs of virtual reality worlds created by the students by putting Oculus Rift headset. Children from 3 to 8 years of ages can play games created by the college students available in the educational zone. All are invited to experience the inventions of the students.
Story & Craft
As a part of the festival, there will be a free session of story time and craft session for the children aged upto 10 years, held at the Stockton Heath Library’s Children’s section, Alexandra Road, on Thursday – July 5 betwen 2 pm to 3 pm. Mini Farm
On Saturday – July 7, there will be a Mini Farm at the festival field organised where the children can get a chance to see variety of animals, touch and feel them.
Sports Taster
There is a new event of free sports taster this time introduced on Saturday – July 7 and it is free and open to all to try out cricket or hockey. The taster sessions are organised by The Warrington Hockey Club and The Appleton Cricket Club. Interested can join at Alexandra Park between 11 am to 4 pm.
Festival movie night
On Saturday – July 7 at 7 pm, the movie Paddington 2 will be showed at Hill Cliffe Church as a part of the festival. The festival movie night is free and please collect tickets from the box office at the Forge, Stockton Heath before the event as the number of tickets are limited.
Sharing of poems & short stories
On Saturday – July 7, anybody can bring their favourite short stories or poems to the Stockton Heath Library at 11 am and can share them with others by reading theirs.
Open Day at Red Lane
On Sunday – July 8, there will be a open day at Red Lane allotments where you can get local produces of fresh fruits & vegetables. Free Entry to the allotments on the day betwen 10 am to 3 pm.
Art Demonstrations
There will be free admission to various sessions (10.30 am, 12.30 pm & 2.30 pm) of art demonstration sessions on Sunday – July 8 at Stockton Heath Scout Centre, which offer an insight into the process of artistic methods and features the talents of internationally recognised professional artists (Brigitte Watkinson, Lea Williams, Rebecca Yoxhall and Christine Oliphant). You can even buy their creations.
Pinxton Puppets
There will be a free traditional fairy tales show enacted by the Pinxton Puppets who are specialised in own versions and the show covers the stories (Hansel and Gretel and Little Red Riding Hood, Three Litlle Pigs). There will be 3 free shows on Sunday – July 8 at 12 noon, 1 pm & 2 pm.
Arts/Crafts stalls & Farmer’s markets
On July 7 & 8, you can find various stalls and farmers’ market at the Festival Field where you can enjoy the delicious local food, drinks outlet, glassware, home decors, ceramics etc. The market is open on both days from 10 am to 6 pm.
As a part of Stockton Heath Festival, many attractions you can find such as face painting, the Bubble man, the Mini Farm, police information, the Festival Dog Show, Balloon Maker, magical music, LiveWire (sport and fitness),choir songs, Local history talk, Morris Dancers, the Climbing Wall etc.
