People are suffering with different health issues. Stroke is one of them raising in number every year say one stroke for every five minutes happening. To raise awareness on causes and side effects of stroke, University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust has organised for a free awareness and prevention talk on stroke for the public on 21st June 2018. The session will be from 6 pm to 8 pm at Lancaster Town Hall, Dalton Square Lancaster LA1 1PL United Kingdom.
Attendees can meet the following speakers on the free talk session
Dr. David Walker – Medical Director, UHMBT
Jennifer Gardner – Support Manager, Stroke Association
Phil Woodford – UHMBT – Staff member, who will explain his experience of how to survive with a stroke.
The session will cover Impact of strokes on the affected person and families, Awareness on the symptoms of stroke and Ways for reducing the chances of getting a stroke. Stroke Association will be giving advice on how to reduce or prevent the chances of getting a stroke and there will also be a free blood pressure check up for the participants at this session.
Chief Executive of UHMBT – Aaron Cummins said that public in their last annual members meeting had requested to host for free talks on various areas. They are expecting many members from the public to the sessions and sign up to become a member of the trust. The trust is also planning for more sessions in the next year and would like to cover the topic which will realy benefit the public.
Dr. David Walker in his statement said that Stroke will lead to death and get any disability but the impact can be preventable and there is a wide stroke prevention programme in Morecambe Bay to reduce it. Since more old aged population is Morecambe Bay, the chances of getting stroke is more in the area comparing to national average.
Jennifer Gardner – Stroke Association stated that stroke will attract any age of person and one in every five minutes is affected by stroke in the UK. So the association is thankful to UHMBT to make them also a part of the session. There will be a free blood pressure checkup and will give them advice on preventive measures.
