Free All Points Equal event announced for All Points East

April 28th, 2018 by Sandy

All Points East celebrates 100 years of women’s right to vote and its organisers have announced All Points Equal as a one-day free event in the celebrations. The All Points East festival will be held next month, for the first time, at the Victoria Park in London.

Over the festival’s two weekends, falling on 25 to 27 May and 1 to 3 June, there will be many performances by music stars and groups, all part of celebrating 100 years of women being given the right to vote and 90 years of equal voting rights for men and women.

The free event All Points Equal, will be hosted on 28 May, also in Victoria Park, from 10am to 9:30pm. It will mark the start of a week-long programme of free events, falling between the 2 weekends of All Points East. Some will be on a first come, first served basis.

Events in the day include the outdoor screening of films like Suffragette, Moana and Made In Dagenham. There’s a suffragette rally with Museum of London in partnership. The great granddaughter of two leaders of the British suffragette movement, Helen Pankhurst, will lead a panel and a Q&A session. Other events elsewhere include spoken word, live music, protest poster workshops and children’s activities. There’ll be pop up bars and street food too.

More events in Victoria Park are on offer to festival-goers from 29 to 31 May, including screenings of short films and movies on theme nights, with evenings hosting a range of local and world music. Tickets to the events on the 2 weekends of All Points East are available and on sale online (at www.allpointseastfestival.com/)
