In an effort to attract tourists from overseas, a new campaign has been started to market overseas the English National Park Experience. VisitEngland, the government agency for tourism, is funding National Park authorities, including Yorkshire Dales, with this objective. The agency is looking to develop ‘immersive’ visitor experiences that are new and easily bookable by foreign tourists. The key target markets include Australia and Germany.
Two workshops focused on the tourism businesses, are being held on 26th April and 3rd May, both on Thursdays. One of the English National Park Experience Collection workshops is at Devonshire Arms Hotel, Bolton Abbey Estate, on 26th April. The other one is at the offices of the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority, on 3rd May.
People who offer experiences, attractions, accommodation or activities, in the Yorkshire Dales, are welcome. Those who wish to collaborate with the organisation to showcase the history, landscape and culture of the parks to overseas visitors, are invited to the sessions. Both workshops will cover the context of the programme, offer examples of the experiences now on development and discuss the action needed to reach an international audience.
Leading the events will be Susan Briggs of the Tourism Network, who believes this is an opportunity for local businesses in and around the national parks. She said they can develop together bookable world-class tourism products and target the right global customers, via right channels.
